Taking a (Little) Breather

First let me say: don't worry, I'll be back. I know you'd be totally lost without my witty commentary three times a week.

Taking a (Little) Breather -- I've been blogging for 21 months without giving myself any real vacation time. Talk about the boss from you-know-where.  {posted @ Unremarkable Files}
I am, however, taking a little breather.

In the 21 months since the birth of this blog, I haven't officially given myself much time off  even on holidays, weekends, the week I had a baby, or actual real-life vacations.

This makes me realize I'm the world's worst boss, and giving myself some long-overdue vacation time is probably the best way to avoid burning out, storming into my office and yelling "I quit!" and then keying my car in the parking lot on the way out.

So I'm taking a little breather, and believe me when I say it probably hurts me more than you. I love this blog and I love you guys.

During my break I'd love it if you could do three favors for me:
  1. Visit the blog's Facebook page. I'll still be posting there every day (although a little less than usual  after all, I'm taking a breather) and I promise it's a ton of fun there. Answer the question of the day (posted at noon EST,) laugh at some funny parenting memes, and hit 'like' if you really do like it.
  2. Check out the Unremarkable Files archives. If you're reading on a desktop, they're on the righthand side of the page in a dropdown menu. On mobile devices, they're at the bottom. Both are cleverly titled "Blog Archive." Read a 7 Quick Takes post from your birthday month last year and leave a comment below with the one that made you laugh the hardest.
  3. If you have a favorite Unremarkable Files post, leave the title of it (and the URL, if you feel so inclined) in the comments below! If you're a new reader or simply hate everything I write and don't have a favorite, that's okay. Nobody's perfect.

Oh, and if you want to stay updated on my every move, enter your email address in the box under my profile picture that says "Get New Posts By Email." To, you know, get new posts in your email.

I will seriously miss you all on my first official blog vacation. I'll be back before you know it, probably with a whole bunch of stories about my 6 kids and their crazy antics. I'll try extra-hard to think of some that don't involve urine.

I had been been thinking that it didn't seem like you took much of a break for maternity leave for sure. I am still failing miserably at my goal of posting once per week. I have 6 things in the works and not one done! Enjoy your vacation.

Enjoy your break. We're not going anywhere and will welcome you back when you return. Well, I will be. Can't speak for everyone else. No, wait, I'm sure they'll all be here, too!

Enjoy your break! I've been taking a bit of an informal break too-and while I miss my blog, it's also nice to focus on other things (ie: changing diapers, nursing all day long, calming a fussy baby, and reading loads of awesome books) :P I can't really pick a favorite blog post right now, since Peter just woke up and wants me, but I love so many of your posts!

Glad it's not just me who can't keep up. At this point I've realized I need to take a break or give up sleep entirely, and I think a break will be a better solution in the end.

I hope so. A week or two is like an eternity on the Internet, so I hope someone still remembers me when I return!

Yes. Your job is basically dairy cow right now so enjoy it while it lasts. Glad to hear all is going well with the new baby. I hope you're getting some sleep!
