Just Call Me @thatevanslady

Keep Calm and Follow Me on Twitter @thatevanslady -- even though the blog is online, I solemnly swear never to make a hashtag symbol with my hands in real, face-to-face conversation  {posted @ Unremarkable Files}

I don't even know what to say here, guys, but the impossible has happened.

I've joined Twitter.

If you've just recently stumbled upon this blog, you may not know why this is a remarkable event. But if you've known me for a long time, especially pre-blog, you're probably wiping up the drink that you just snorted out your nose. (You also may have had a similar reaction when I got on Facebook.)

I'm more resistant to adapting to new technology than your average 90-year-old man with glaucoma and a colostomy bag.

I used to laughingly call myself a technophobe; I guess now I have to say I'm a recovering technophobe.

So follow @thatevanslady for more Unremarkable Files hilarity. For the first couple of weeks while I'm still learning the ropes, you might feel a little like gawker traffic on the highway passing a car accident  but it'll get better. I'm confident I'll become fluent at tweeting soon.

But no matter what, I solemnly promise never to do that "hashtag" thing with my hands when I talk.

Rock it Jenny!!! You will get there! I still have no idea what I am doing on Twitter.

Definitely following you, then. It'll be like the blind leading the blind!

Love it Jenny! Not least because I just searched for you on there looking to put out my #thetruthabout reminder and totally didn't realise you were so new to the dark side :-) I am all over the place on Twitter - I don't really know what I'm doing either except for blog post promotion and wasting inordinate amounts of time in which I could've done something much more productive like the hoovering...

I am also afraid of Twitter and Instagram. I'm not sure how to use them, so I haven't. I love your post and I will learn from you how to use Twitter. We can be recovering technophobes together. :) Thanks for this great post. :)

Thanks for the vote of confidence - time will tell if it's deserved.

Hahaha, I'm the same way. I just got a updated phone last year and a Instagram. Though, I think Instagram is my favorite source of media. I'm not a huge fan of twitter but I also didn't give it a chance really. There's just so many social things in media can we really be on them all? lol though some have made it look easy. :)

I too was slow to join the world of social media. I gave up when Myspace was still a thing and only joined FB two years ago when I had my daughter! I didn't join Twitter until about a year ago, but am only just now getting the hang of it (sort of)!

Twitter is good fun - but list are essential, and it's easier to start off with some than go back and do it when you have a following. @lifeat139a #sharewithme

Welcome to Twitter - you might find it quite addictive once you get going! It's probably my favourite of all the social media platforms :-)

Tweeting is as old as dirt. It just didn't travel as far as it does now ;)

That's what people tell me. Now I just have to sit down and Google "Twitter for Dummies."

I really struggle with twitter also. I guess I just don't get it! The one upside is that it is super easy to get a lot of followers quickly, even though I don't think it actually does anything for me!

I'm definitely using Twitter and am surprised at how easy it is to get new followers. But I'm probably also using it wrong, because I have this feeling like I'm missing something... probably similar to how my great-great-grandparents felt using a telephone for the first time.
